Commission Spotlight

A round painting of a man and woman standing near a fence in a mountain landscape, with trees and mountains in the background, and a guitar and a violin leaning against the fence.

This commissioned painting is inspired by Jennifer Carr’s novel Wrapped Up in You. It captures two strangers who fall for each other through music, drift apart, then reconnect through the same passion. I painted the characters as silhouettes to keep their connection mysterious while highlighting their instruments – his guitar and her violin. The fence between them hints at both the separation they overcame and their unspoken bond.

The circular canvas echoes a vinyl record and fits the story’s Appalachian setting. Soft blues and greens suggest a spring morning while acrylic markers add detail to the instruments and outlines. Working on a round canvas was a fun challenge and the final result reflects how love and music intertwine.
